Is there an employee shortage right now? Yes. There might even be an employee crisis.

Across the country, employers are struggling to fill positions that, until recently, they had a stack of resumes to choose from. For example, we were at the beach this past weekend, and one restaurant said the employee shortage caused them to cut their days of operation to Thursday through Sunday…during the peak summer season!

In our coaching, we hear a continual concern surrounding a lack of people wanting to work. Additionally, our clients express concern about prospective employees asking for too much money and not wanting to work hard. On the other hand, most of the workforce are demanding higher pay and better advancement opportunities.

Employers say employees have to “pay their dues” and employees say they are being taken advantage of for cheap labor. So, which is it? Perhaps, the answer lies in knowing the difference.

Co-founder, Vince Blubaugh, is moving to Arkansas in August to take on the role of a denominational State Director of Missions. This opportunity will enable him to spend more time with his family, and it will also reduce some of the physical stress that he has been enduring.

For Capitalize, that means Vince will take on a reduced ownership role while growing the company’s coaching footprint in Arkansas. Co-founder, Gordon Duncan, will expand his ownership role while continuing to lead as CEO.

We are also excited to announce that Amy Duncan, our social media coordinator/administrator, will be taking on a larger role within the company.

We Build the Bridge to Downtown Fredericksburg

When the Chatham Bridge closure was announced, the merchants and citizens of Fredericksburg, Stafford, and the surrounding areas were greatly concerned about the social and economic impact.

In light of that, the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority commissioned the “We Build the Bridge” campaign. The idea was to create a community effort to offset the negative effects of the closure.
