2021 Mid-Year Check-In

Mid-Year check in.

You and your business are closer to 2022 than you are to 2020.  Just like that, 2021 is halfway over.  With that in mind, let’s consider some of the realities facing our businesses.

There is a nationwide employee shortage.

Wages and taxes are high.

Competition is greater than ever.

Their marketing may very well be more engaging and interesting than yours.

With the country opening up, more and more businesses are starting or re-starting.

Yes, the fourth quarter is coming, and for some of our businesses, those sales may very well rescue the year.  But what’s your plan for quarter 3?  Here are a few quick tips:

Invest the Time in Creating a Budget…Even if You Don’t Have Any Money – These are not the times to shoot from the hop financially.  Creating a budget now will instill the discipline needed to succeed for the second half of the year.

Invest in Your Marketing – Either get training for yourself or outsource your marketing.  Your competition may very well be outpacing you in marketing.  Now is not the time for your marketing to be the same old same old.

Recapture the Start-Up Mindset – Never lose the hunger of the startup.  The challenge many established businesses have is maintaining the urgency that launched them.  You may wonder, “How do I do that?”  That will be one of our next posts, but for now, begin to think through what your mindset was at the beginning of your career and try to place yourself there mentally.  Then, repeat.

Congratulations for making it through halfway through 2021.  Now, let’s kick 2021’s butt!
