Finding Your Voice as a Creative

I had a wonderful conversation with a fellow creative this week.

We were at a networking event, and we discussed the need to distinguish ourselves in a crowded marketplace.  We noted that if people care about what we create, then we make an impact.  For both of us, being creative is our main source of income.  People caring about what we create is the difference between our bills being paid or the creditors calling us. What’s key is the distinction.

What makes us different from everyone else?  So, ask yourself:

If you create social media, what’s unique about you?
If you are a writer, what do you have to say that hasn’t been said before?

What makes your voice distinct?

Don’t cave under this pressure.  Embrace it.  Find the voice that God has given you, and be bold in its declaration.  The world needs to hear it.
